We’re delighted to have appointed Sunil, Andy, Steve and Laura as our first set of advisors to the business.
Sunil, Andy, Steve and Laura bring decades of experience in Product, Operations, Engineering and Marketing across Europe, North America and beyond. These are the people we go to when we have questions, are working in areas in which we have less knowledge and want to learn from people who have solved similar problems… and maybe made a few mistakes along the way :)
Here’s a little bit about each of them.
Andy Batty — Operations
Andy is Chief Operating Officer at mytaxi, a leading European player in the ride sharing space transporting more than 10m passengers across 11 countries. Andy joined mytaxi in May 2017 initially as UK General Manager before quickly taking on increased regional responsibility for five additional European markets. Prior to his time at mytaxi, he was General Manager at Onefinestay, playing a leading role in their successful exit and acquisition by Accor hotels in mid 2016. From 2013 to 2014, Andy was European Operations Director at Tough Mudder where he delivered numerous large scale events and led expansion into non-English speaking markets.
Before that, Andy held roles within high growth startups and also worked as an Operations and Business Manager within Mars Chocolate, before setting up a direct to consumer e-commerce business within Mars. Andy started his career as a Captain in the British Army having successfully completed a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham.
Sunil Rajasekar — Product
Sunil is a Silicon Valley veteran who is currently CTO of MindBody — the $1.9b software company that provides technology platforms for fitness and wellness studios. Sunil was previously vice president and general manager leading seller experience at e-commerce giant eBay prior to which, he was CTO of Lithium Technologies, a software-as-a-service firm that helps brands such as Google, Airbnb and Telstra build trusted relationships with customers through social and digital channels. Sunil also spent nine years at Intuit in the small business division and as vice president in its financial services division focusing on web, mobile banking and financial management tools including Mint.
Sunil brings deep engineering, product management and operations experience from high scale consumer and enterprise businesses.
Laura Roche — Marketing
Laura is General Manager for Tinder UK, the world’s leading social app for meeting new people. Laura joined Tinder in January 2017 and is responsible for leading product growth and brand perception in the UK. Previously, she was Head of Digital and Customer Marketing at Hastings Direct, one of Europe’s fastest growing digitally led insurance groups from June 2015.
Before that, Laura worked at American Express from September 2010 in a variety of marketing roles including Director, Digital Partnerships and Development, where she launched their Amex Offers brand globally.
Laura started her career in New York working agency side for Digitas and Futurebrand. She holds a MBA from London Business School and a BA from Dartmouth College.
Steve Romney — Engineering
Steve is Senior Director of Engineering, Global Shipping at eBay, the world’s leading e-commerce marketplace. Prior to eBay Steve was co-founder and CTO of Shutl, the award-winning same day delivery service. At Shutl, Steve led product and engineering, playing a crucial role in building a world class team and technology platform, leading to a successful exit and acquisition by eBay in November 2013. While at eBay Steve has led the local delivery engineering team before taking on additional responsibilities as the head of engineering for global shipping. Earlier in his career, Steve held various roles as a software engineer and architect in e-commerce and financial services verticals at The Home Depot and Provenir.
Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Dartmouth College and Masters degrees in Software Engineering and Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
